Jury Convicts Iranian-American Engineer Who Helped Route U.S. Chips Into Iran's Drone Program
A federal jury in Boston convicted Mahdi Mohammad Sadeghi for helping smuggle American semiconductor tech to Iran through a Swiss front company, tech that ended up in the Shahed drone that killed three U.S. soldiers at Tower 22 in Jordan in January 2024. His co-defendant, Mohammad Abedini, remains a separate case. Sadeghi's lawyers said he gave a friend business advice, not weapons parts. The jury didn't buy it.
