NYPD Officer Shoots Stolen-Car Driver Who Rammed Multiple Cops in the Bronx

What Happened

On Sunday, NYPD officers located a silver Kia Sportage reported stolen from the Bronx. License plate readers tracked the vehicle to West Fordham Road, where officers attempted a traffic stop, according to Fox News citing NYPD officials.

According to Aneudy Castillo, assistant chief and commanding officer of Patrol Borough Bronx North, the driver put the Kia in reverse and struck one officer and an unmarked police vehicle. He then shifted into drive and turned toward a sergeant standing nearby, running into him and throwing him to the ground.

"He drove the car into the sergeant who was thrown to the ground," Castillo said at the scene.
