Looksmaxxing Streamer Braden Peters, Known as Clavicular, Charged With Rape in Massachusetts Over Alleged 2025 Cape Cod Incident

Braden Peters, the 20-year-old streamer known online as Clavicular, was charged Sept. 8 with rape, drugging a person for sex, and providing alcohol to a minor, according to court records reported by The Bulwark and independently confirmed by NBC News and Complex. The charges stem from an alleged incident on May 23, 2025, in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. An arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 14 in a Cape Cod district court.

Massachusetts law shields the accuser's identity in sexual assault cases, so court records don't name a victim. If convicted, Peters faces up to 20 years in prison on the rape charge alone and would have to register as a sex offender, according to the New York Post and Hindustan Times.

As of this reporting, no arrest has been made public. Peters' representative, Mitchell Jackson, told NBC News, "Braden Peters has not been physically served. As usual the Bulwark is exaggerating." A separate statement to TheWrap, cited by Yahoo News, said Peters "has not stepped foot in Cape Cod this month" and has been in Los Angeles "on a whirlwind media tour." That statement does not address the May 2025 allegation itself.

The civil lawsuit that preceded the charges

The date, location and circumstances of a civil lawsuit filed in April in Miami-Dade County align with those in the criminal complaint. The lawsuit was filed by influencer Aleksandra Vasilevna Mendoza, who goes by Alorah Ziva online, according to NBC South Florida reporting cited by NBC News and The Hollywood Reporter. Neither the courts nor prosecutors have confirmed the criminal charges and the civil suit describe the identical incident.

Mendoza's lawsuit alleges Peters paid her $1,000 in May 2025, when she says she was 16, to film content positioning her as "the female face for looksmaxxing." She claims Peters later arranged an Uber to bring her to his family's Cape Cod home, where she was given "excessive amounts of alcohol," according to court documents cited by the Post. The suit alleges Peters had sex with her while she was too intoxicated to consent, and again the next morning while she was asleep.

Massachusetts' age of consent is 16, so Peters isn't facing statutory rape charges tied to her age, per TMZ and Hindustan Times. The alcohol charge concerns Massachusetts' 21-year drinking age, not the age of consent.

The lawsuit separately alleges Peters injected Mendoza's face with Aqualyx, a fat-dissolving substance not approved by the FDA, during a livestream without her consent, causing a perforation to her cheek, according to The Hollywood Reporter and Yahoo UK. Peters filed a motion in July to dismiss several counts of the civil suit.

Peters' response

Peters' attorney at the time the civil suit was filed, Steve Kramer, said in a statement, "These are allegations only and remain unproven. Mr. Peters denies the claims and disputes the characterization of events. He will respond through the appropriate legal channels and intends to vigorously defend himself."

A representative told TMZ that Mendoza's original complaint didn't include a sexual assault count and that it was added "a couple months later," before she went to police. The rep framed that sequence as suspicious. "Sources close to Clav" told TMZ the situation is a "shakedown" and that Peters "will be fighting this till the end."

Peters posted on X Monday night, calling the lawsuit "petty" and writing, "Happens to all successful young men, people try to come for your money. Greed is evil." He also shared a letter he said Mendoza wrote thanking him, and a video in which she appears to call the Aqualyx injection "fun" and describe Peters as "super nice." In that video, cited by The Hollywood Reporter and Complex, Mendoza also appears to say she was 18, a detail that doesn't match the lawsuit's claim she was 16 at the time of the Cape Cod trip. It's unclear from the reporting which specific date or event the video refers to.

Some coverage frames Peters primarily through a political lens. Yahoo News, republishing a TheWrap report, labeled him a "right-wing livestreamer," a characterization not used by NBC News, TMZ, or The Hollywood Reporter, which stick to describing him as a "looksmaxxing" or "manosphere" personality.

This isn't Peters' first brush with the law. In April, he pleaded no contest in Florida to unlawfully discharging a firearm after video surfaced of him shooting at an alligator, receiving six months probation and 20 hours of community service, according to NBC News. He was also hospitalized in Miami that month after a suspected overdose.

The rape charge remains an allegation, untested in court. Key questions for the coming weeks include whether prosecutors' case rests on the same facts as Mendoza's civil suit, and whether Peters is served with the warrant before his Oct. 14 arraignment.
