Blackstone Products Recalls Parmesan Ranch Seasoning Sold at Walmart Over Salmonella Contamination Risk

Blackstone Products Recalls Parmesan Ranch Seasoning Sold at Walmart Over Salmonella Contamination Risk
Blackstone Products, based in Utah, is pulling three lots of its Parmesan Ranch seasoning from Walmart shelves after discovering the product contains powdered milk flagged for possible salmonella contamination earlier this year. The FDA announced the voluntary recall on Friday. If you bought this at Walmart or on the Blackstone website, throw it out now.

What Happened

Blackstone Products, a Utah-based company, is voluntarily recalling specific lots of its Blackstone Parmesan Ranch 7.3 oz seasoning after determining the product was made with powdered milk that was already recalled earlier in 2025 due to possible salmonella contamination.

The FDA announced the recall on Friday, according to WSAV News.

The seasoning was made with a compromised ingredient from an upstream supplier.

Exactly Which Products Are Affected

Three specific lots are included in the recall. All are the same product — Blackstone Parmesan Ranch, 7.3 oz, item #4106 — with the following lot numbers:

  • Lot # 2025-43282 — Best if used by July 2, 2027
  • Lot # 2025-46172 — Best if used by August 5, 2027
  • Lot # 2026-54751 — Best if used by August 12, 2027

Check the bottom or back of your container. If the lot number matches, discard the product immediately.

Where It Was Sold

According to WSAV, the recalled seasoning was distributed exclusively through Walmart stores nationwide and through the Blackstone Products website.

If you bought Blackstone Parmesan Ranch from any other retailer, verify the lot number to be certain.

Why Salmonella Is a Serious Problem

The FDA warns that salmonella poses the highest risk to young children, elderly adults, and anyone with a weakened immune system, according to the agency's recall announcement.

Symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the infection spreads beyond the gut and causes arterial infections, endocarditis, or arthritis that require hospitalization.

Salmonella typically shows up 6 hours to 6 days after exposure, per the CDC. If you've used this product recently and feel sick, consult a doctor.

What to Do Right Now

The FDA says: throw it away immediately.

Do not use it up first. Do not wait to see if you feel sick. Dispose of it.

The Bigger Picture

This recall reflects a common pattern in food safety. The U.S. food supply chain is long and complex, with ingredient suppliers feeding dozens of finished-product manufacturers. When one supplier has a contamination problem, the fallout spreads through every product downstream — often before anyone realizes it.

The FDA's voluntary recall system depends on companies identifying and reporting problems themselves. Blackstone Products pulled the product after detecting the contaminated ingredient. The system works when companies act quickly once they identify the risk.
