Brewers Beat Rays 4-1 in Game 5 to Win First World Series in Franchise History

Brewers Beat Rays 4-1 in Game 5 to Win First World Series in Franchise History
The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 on Wednesday night, Oct. 28, to take the World Series four games to one. It is the franchise's first title after nearly six decades. Next season, the club's planned premium suite behind home plate will test how its longtime season-ticket holders fit into the new ballpark.

Since the Rays forced a Game 5 with a 12-inning, 4-3 win, the Brewers answered on Wednesday night, Oct. 28. They won 4-1 and finished off the World Series four games to one.

The Brewers are champions for the first time in franchise history. NBC News described it as the payoff of nearly six decades of waiting. The team also finished the regular season with the best record in baseball.

The Rays did manage one win in the series, the extra-inning Game 4. Milwaukee had opened the series with a 3-2 win in Game 1 and led 2-0 after Game 2.

Milwaukee celebrates

Brewers fans spent Wednesday night and Thursday morning celebrating. CBS News aired scenes of emotional crowds reacting to the franchise's first championship.

For some fans, the win closed out a long wait. Amy Williams, known around the ballpark as "Front Row Amy," has held season tickets since 2011 and has followed the team for 20 seasons. After the clincher she posted on X: "OUR MILWAUKEE BREWERS ARE #WORLDSERIES CHAMPIONS!!!"

Williams is typically seen in her front-row seat behind home plate at American Family Field. That seat had been a worry during the Series.

The seat question

The Brewers plan to build a two-story premium suite, The Truss Club, ahead of next season. It will cover the first six rows behind home plate.

After Game 1, Williams told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that she hoped the team could win a title "while all of us and the season seat holders are still there," because "the diehard fans aren't going to be there next year."

She later said otherwise about her own seat. In an X post on Oct. 5, Williams said she will be in the same seat in 2027 and beyond.

The Brewers have not been quoted in the available reporting on how seats in the affected rows are being handled for other season-ticket holders. That leaves open how many fans in those rows will keep their spots.

Cantrall claims the good luck

Pop singer Kylie Cantrall, 21, took credit online for the title. She sang the national anthem before Game 2 on Saturday, Oct. 24, at American Family Field, the game the Brewers won to go up 2-0.

On Wednesday night, Cantrall posted on Instagram to the Brewers: "happy i could b your good luck charm for game 2 ;) thx for having meee." The post has drawn nearly 40,000 likes.

Cantrall is a Los Angeles native and former Disney Channel actress. She released her debut album, "B.O.Y," on May 7, 2025, and an EP, "Valley Girl Problems," in July 2026. She launched a U.S. tour on Sept. 25 that is scheduled to run through Dec. 15.

Country singer Mickey Guyton sang the anthem for Game 1 on Oct. 23.

Watching it at COSM

Not everyone watched from a seat in the ballpark. A columnist for the Fox News and OutKick Screencaps column watched Game 5 at a COSM venue, a dome with a large wraparound screen that shows games as an immersive broadcast.

He wrote that he paid his own way and that the experience was not sponsored. His prices:

  • Seating: $77 per person for a three-person couch at dead center on the lowest level.
  • Food: Barbacoa nachos were $16 and a Bavarian pretzel was $14.
  • Beer: About $16 for 22 ounces, by his recollection.

"Unless you're loaded, you're not going there as a family very often," he wrote.

What comes next

The Brewers are expected to return to American Family Field next season as defending champions. The Truss Club is scheduled to be in place by then, covering the first six rows behind the plate. Williams says her seat will be there anyway.
