OPPO Puts Manus AI Agent in Find X10 Phones, Global Launch Set for Oct. 21

OPPO Puts Manus AI Agent in Find X10 Phones, Global Launch Set for Oct. 21
OPPO announced Oct. 13 that Manus technology will power a new Agent Mode in its AI Mind Pilot assistant on the Find X10 series. The phones are scheduled to debut globally tomorrow, Oct. 21, in Mallorca, Spain. The privacy promises are OPPO's own, and OPPO has not said which markets get the feature.

OPPO will unveil the Find X10 series tomorrow, Oct. 21, in Mallorca, Spain. The headline software feature is an AI agent built with Manus, an AI agent platform.

The partnership was announced Oct. 13 from OPPO's base in Shenzhen, China. Manus technology will drive a new Agent Mode inside OPPO's AI Mind Pilot assistant, running on ColorOS 17.

What Agent Mode is supposed to do

OPPO says the assistant will do more than answer questions. It is designed to take a user's goal, break it into steps, pull relevant information, pick the right tools and deliver a finished result.

It can also work directly with files and photos stored on the phone.

OPPO's main example is travel. A user asks the assistant to organize a trip. It finds flight tickets, hotel bookings, restaurant reservations and attraction tickets scattered across different apps, then merges them with online information into a day-by-day itinerary. No manual gathering or uploading required.

Other examples: finding and sorting trip photos, locating specific images, and turning files plus online material into a presentation, proposal or portfolio from a single prompt.

Manus co-founder and CPO Tao Zhang said phones are a natural platform for personal AI agents because they are central to daily life. OPPO software chief Kai Tang described it as a shift from answering questions to helping users get things done.

The privacy claims

An agent that can read your bookings, files and photos is a data question first and a convenience feature second. OPPO addresses it directly.

According to OPPO, ColorOS 17 uses on-device models to understand and organize local information. For local jobs like finding, sorting or renaming files and photos, the original content stays on the phone and is not shared with Manus.

When a task needs outside processing, the assistant is supposed to ask for explicit confirmation before anything is uploaded or shared. OPPO also says users control what information is accessed and what actions the assistant can take.

Those are company assurances. No independent testing or audit of how Agent Mode handles data has been published, because the phones have not shipped. The design also depends on users reading each confirmation prompt rather than tapping through it. OPPO has described the confirmation step but has not detailed what happens to content after a user approves an upload.

Demos versus daily use

The skepticism here is simple and comes from the product category itself. Gizchina, in its coverage of the announcement, cautioned that agent features look good in demos but real tasks are messier. Booking details sit in many different apps, and a trip plan is only useful if it is accurate. Its advice was to treat OPPO's claims as promises until reviewers test Agent Mode on real phones.

OPPO's own showcase leans heavily on one scenario, trip planning, which is among the easiest to demonstrate. The company has not published accuracy figures or failure rates.

The hardware around it

The Find X10 series is also a camera story. OPPO describes the Find X10 Pro Max as the industry's first triple 200MP camera system, with 200MP sensors on the ultra-wide, main and telephoto lenses. The standard Find X10 gets a dual 200MP system co-developed with Hasselblad, which OPPO also calls a first in its category. Both are OPPO's claims, not independently verified.

On video, OPPO says every rear camera on the Pro Max supports 4K at 120fps and 8K at 30fps. The standard model offers the same resolutions and frame rates across its two cameras. Both models use OPPO's LUMO True Image Engine and a new Open Gate Capture mode that lets creators reframe footage in post-production.

The Pro Max comes in Titanium Grey and Luna White. The standard Find X10 comes in Glacier Blue, Glow Coral and Mist Grey. Singapore pre-orders are tied to the launch.

What OPPO has not said

OPPO says availability, supported markets and user benefits will be revealed at launch. It has not said which regions will get Agent Mode.

A Chinese outlet has suggested the Manus-powered feature may be limited to overseas markets. That is speculation. OPPO has not confirmed it.

The company also has not said whether older phones will receive Agent Mode, or whether it will cost extra.

Those answers are due at the Mallorca event tomorrow, Oct. 21.
