Kyle Singler Posts Disturbing Videos Pleading With Coach K for Help, Alleging Break-Ins and Frozen Accounts

Kyle Singler, the Most Outstanding Player of Duke's 2010 national championship run, posted three videos to his Instagram account late Tuesday night pleading with his former coach, Mike Krzyzewski, for help.

"Man, Coach K has set me up," Singler says in the first video, captioned "Where u &," while pacing through what appears to be his home. "I have no power. I have no house. I've reached out to coach and everybody has turned the other way."

Singler, 38, alleges his power has been shut off, that people have broken into his house, stolen money, and compromised his bank accounts. He says he feels imprisoned and unable to leave his residence. None of these claims come with any supporting evidence, and no specific individuals beyond Krzyzewski and Duke are named as responsible.

"I reached out to Coach K, and all he did was sit me on the bench," Singler says. It's not clear what he means. Krzyzewski retired from coaching Duke after the 2021-22 season, more than a decade after Singler's playing career under him ended in 2011.

In the second video, Singler broadens his claims. He says he's had run-ins with police and been kicked out of restaurants while living in Oklahoma, where he played four seasons for the Thunder. "I get pulled, I get arrested, I get f---ing checked," he says. He then accuses Duke directly: "Duke's all about it. I got Duke begging for my money. Everybody's after my money, trying to kill me."

In the third clip, Singler says his accounts are "hijacked and frozen" and claims he's being watched. "I'm locked in my house and I have no freedom anymore," he says, again addressing Krzyzewski: "I've reached out to you many times and shared with you where I'm at and you've just been deflective."

This isn't the first time Singler has raised alarm. According to the Associated Press, as cited by sportando.basketball, Singler posted similarly distressing videos in November 2024 saying he feared for his life every day. That earlier round prompted the National Basketball Players Association to contact his family, and current and former NBA players including Kevin Love, Isaiah Thomas and Andre Drummond publicly offered support at the time.

Singler was a four-year starter at Duke from 2007 to 2011, Duke's second-leading scorer in each of those seasons, and helped the Blue Devils win the 2010 national title under Krzyzewski. He was picked in the second round of the 2011 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons, spent a season with Real Madrid during the 2011 NBA lockout, and played six years in the NBA with Detroit and Oklahoma City before retiring in 2019 at age 31.

Singler posted the videos and made specific claims about stolen money, frozen accounts, break-ins and surveillance while directing his pleas at Krzyzewski by name. That's on the record because it's on his own account. However, whether any of the alleged break-ins, financial theft, or threats to his life actually happened is not established.
