Gunmen on Motorcycle Fire at Tiger Shroff's Car in Mumbai; Actor Unhurt, Two Injured

Gunmen fired on Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff's car near Pushpa Park in Mumbai's Juhu neighborhood on the evening of Sunday, Oct. 18. Shroff was not shot. Two other men were hurt.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg said the shooting happened around 7 p.m., as Shroff was leaving after a private event. Shroff had been at a football facility nearby. The area falls under Juhu police station.
What happened on the street
Three men arrived on a motorcycle, according to footage reviewed by India Today. One fired multiple rounds, a second appeared to try to fire, and the third stayed on the bike. All three then fled.
In the same footage, Shroff is seen moving toward the driver's seat of his BMW while the shots were fired. At least three rounds were fired at the car, per local accounts of the scene.
Shroff's driver, identified by police as Firdaus (spelled Firdosh in some accounts), was injured in his left hand and taken to Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle. Police said he is out of danger. A second man, an autorickshaw driver identified only as Chauhan, was taken to Cooper Hospital with what police described as bullet injuries to the chest. Doctors at Nanavati said Shroff had a few abrasions and no bullet wounds.
Police have not publicly said how the driver was wounded, and the details of the chain of events are still being pieced together, a police official said. Shroff's father, actor Jackie Shroff, said through his team that his son is safe. "Tiger is okay," the team said.
The gang's claim
A Facebook post under the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, signed by Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu, took responsibility. "We had called him and tried to explain things to him, but he did not understand. So today, we made him understand properly," Pandit wrote.
The post said anyone in the Mumbai film industry who works with actor Salman Khan "will be next." An audio file attributed to a gang representative went further, threatening to kill people who work with Khan.
Police have not confirmed that the post or the audio is genuine, and cyber teams are analyzing the messages. India Today reports that Pandit is originally from Haryana, now lives in the United States, and has previously claimed attacks on the gang's behalf. Sandhu is also based abroad.
The Bishnoi network has been linked in court and police cases to murder, extortion and arms trafficking. Canada designated Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang a terrorist entity on Sept. 29, 2025, announced by Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree.
The investigation
Mumbai Police have formed 15 teams across the city and neighboring areas to find the attackers. They have sealed the scene, collected shell casings and are going through CCTV footage to map the escape route.
India Today reported that police took one person into custody for questioning in Santacruz. Police have not said whether that person is a suspect or has been charged.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also holds the state Home portfolio, phoned Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti. He ordered a fast investigation and strict action. According to the Chief Minister's Office, he also called Shroff and said, "We are all with you. We will track down the accused soon. Do not worry."
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said police would catch the attackers and "respond to them in their own language." "No lapse will be tolerated," he said.
Opposition attacks the state's record
Opposition leaders used the shooting to attack Fadnavis's handling of policing. Congress leader Sachin Sawant said Mumbai appeared to be in the grip of chaos and accused the chief minister of failing to maintain law and order.
Mumbai Congress president Varsha Gaikwad called for Maharashtra to have a separate home minister. "If actors and political leaders are not safe, what can we say about the safety of ordinary citizens?" she asked.
NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar pointed to the recent killing of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Pradeep Purnekar in Thane. He warned that repeated attacks, including the firing outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty's Juhu home, could erode investor confidence in Mumbai.
The government's answer so far is the 15-team investigation and the chief minister's directives to police. Fadnavis has not responded publicly to the call for a separate home minister.
A pattern of attacks on film figures
The Shroff shooting follows a series of attacks tied to the same gang or claimed in its name:
- April 2024: two men on a motorcycle fired five rounds outside Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartments in Bandra.
- October 2024: Maharashtra politician Baba Siddique was killed in Mumbai.
- February 2026: five rounds were fired outside Rohit Shetty's Juhu home, and the gang claimed responsibility.
Mumbai Police have arrested many suspects linked to the Bishnoi network, and a trial of five accused is underway, India Today reports.
Several questions remain unanswered. Police have not said whether the Facebook post and audio came from Pandit and Sandhu, whether the person taken into custody in Santacruz is a suspect, or how the autorickshaw driver and Shroff's driver were wounded. The answers will determine whether this attack becomes another claimed-but-unsolved case or leads to arrests.
