The images cover three devices: two Galaxy Z Fold 8 variants and the Galaxy Z Flip 8, and several of the case shots are transparent enough to show the phones inside them.

The wide-format model is the one drawing the most attention. According to The Verge, it shows a passport-style, horizontally wider form factor, a meaningful departure from Samsung's traditional tall book-style folds. Visible design details include a selfie camera built directly into the cover display and a double-camera setup on the rear.

How this fits the leak timeline

A purported dummy unit surfaced in May, and prominent leaker Ice Universe posted a fresh photo of what appeared to be another dummy unit earlier this week, per The Verge. All three rounds of leaks point to the same broad design language.

The naming picture has also gotten clearer. Recent leaks suggest Samsung is calling the wide model the Galaxy Z Fold 8, while the familiar narrower book-style phone gets rebranded to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. This essentially flips which variant carries the premium label.

The Z Flip 8 images also surfaced in the same Android Headlines report, though The Verge noted those look closely similar to the current Flip 7 design.

July 22 is the target

Samsung's summer Galaxy Unpacked event is reportedly scheduled for July 22, according to The Verge. That's described as slightly later than Samsung's typical cadence, but it would still put the wider Fold 8 on shelves before Apple's own wide-style foldable iPhone, which is currently expected to debut in September.

First-mover positioning in the wide-foldable category matters for competition. Apple entering the foldable market in any form is a significant shift, and Samsung has years of manufacturing and software experience in this form factor. Launching two months ahead gives Samsung time to establish the wide-format narrative before the Apple cycle dominates tech coverage.

The fair skeptic's case

Leak fatigue is real. Dummy units and case renders have a mixed track record. They establish general shape and size but routinely miss final camera configurations, button placement, and color options. Leakers including Ice Universe have accurate records on Samsung hardware overall, but no leaked image is a shipping product. Consumers burned by pre-release hype have good reason to wait for the official announcement before drawing conclusions about specs, pricing, or availability.

Beyond that, the naming restructure, with the wide model as Fold 8 and the narrow model as Fold 8 Ultra, could confuse buyers accustomed to the existing lineup. If Samsung doesn't communicate that clearly at launch, the marketing story gets messy fast.

What remains unknown

Neither the leaked cases nor the dummy unit images reveal anything about internal specs, battery capacity, display resolution, hinge durability ratings, or price. Those are the details that actually determine whether the wide Fold 8 competes or disappoints. The July 22 Unpacked event is where Samsung will have to answer those questions directly.

The more consequential open question is pricing. The current Galaxy Z Fold 6 sits at the premium end of the Android market. A new wide-format variant, if positioned as the base Fold 8, could come in at a lower price point to drive volume, or Samsung could price both variants at flagship levels and compete on differentiation alone. Nothing in the current leak set addresses that.
