Lane Kiffin Admits He Kept Clemson's Weather Delay at Full 90 Minutes on Purpose

Since LSU's 51-10 demolition of Clemson on Saturday night, September 5, in Baton Rouge, the headline hasn't been the score. It's been what Lane Kiffin admitted afterward: he deliberately let a 90-minute weather delay run its full course to make Clemson sit longer in what he called a miserable visitor locker room.

A lightning strike within eight miles of Tiger Stadium triggered the delay before kickoff, according to Sports Illustrated, which reported the teams were originally slated to take the field at 7:10 p.m. CT with a 90-minute warmup window after any weather stoppage. Stadium officials offered Kiffin a chance to shorten that 90-minute window once the weather cleared. He said no.

When they said, 'Hey, do you want to shorten it?' When we come back, I'm like, 'No, leave it all there, we'll go out at midnight.'"
