Aerosmith Teases Hollywood Bowl Shows, Full Details Due Tuesday Morning

Aerosmith Teases Hollywood Bowl Shows, Full Details Due Tuesday Morning
Steven Tyler and Joe Perry posted a video Monday teasing two Hollywood Bowl shows billed as Aerosmith & Friends on Oct. 29 and Nov. 1, more than two years after a vocal cord injury forced the band to scrap its farewell tour. Full details are scheduled to drop at 10 a.m. ET Tuesday, Oct. 6, and it's still unclear whether retired drummer Joey Kramer will be part of it.

The Marquee Video

Aerosmith posted a 30-second clip Monday, October 5, showing frontman Steven Tyler on a ladder outside the Hollywood Bowl, swapping letters on the venue's marquee with rock photographer Ross Halfin, according to Blabbermouth and Consequence. When Halfin needles him, Tyler fires back: "It's 'Aerosmith and Friends,' Ross... Aerosmith and Friends!" The marquee ends up reading "Aerosmith & Friends, Oct. 29 / Nov. 1," per Hello Rayo and MyNewsLA.

The band says full details will be revealed at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET on Tuesday, October 6, according to Consequence and press.evvntly. That announcement has not happened yet as of this writing. No ticket links are live, and outlets are pointing fans to aerosmith.com and hollywoodbowl.com once they do.

Why Anyone's Surprised

Tyler fractured his larynx during a show at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, on September 9, 2023, just three dates into the band's Peace Out farewell tour, according to Blabbermouth. The injury caused bleeding and forced the band to postpone the rest of the run, which was supposed to run through February 2024.

A rescheduled leg was set to kick off September 20, 2024, in Pittsburgh with The Black Crowes as support, per Blabbermouth. It never happened. On August 2, 2024, the band announced it was retiring from touring outright, saying in a statement that "a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible" and calling it "a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision."

What Changed

Tyler never fully stopped performing. He took the stage at his own Jam for Janie charity event in February 2025, according to press.evvntly, then reunited with Joe Perry for a private Janie's Fund benefit in San Francisco that April. He also sang at the "Back to the Beginning" concert for Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath in Birmingham, England, on July 5, 2025, tackling "Train Kept A-Rollin'" and "Walk This Way," according to Hello Rayo.

A source told Page Six, as reported by the New York Post, that Tyler's vocal cords are "in great shape" heading into the Hollywood Bowl dates, crediting "plenty of rehab and rest" since the canceled tour.

Joe Perry has been dropping hints for over a year. He told Eddie Trunk last August that the band was "talking about" getting back on stage, adding, "I know there's gotta be at least another Aerosmith gig." Asked whether Tyler could handle a full concert, Perry said, "I think he would. I think it's just a matter of getting there," according to Hello Rayo. By April 2026, Perry told Billboard the band wasn't in touring mode but that "there are certainly other options, so we stay in touch" — a line press.evvntly notes reads differently now.

Drummer Lineup

Drummer Joey Kramer stepped away from the band before the Peace Out tour even launched. Matt Sorum, formerly of Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver, filled in on drums for the band's 2025 EP with Yungblud, according to therockrevival. Whether Kramer appears at these two shows, or whether Sorum or another drummer sits in again, is an open question none of the available reporting answers.

What's Actually Confirmed

The band has stayed active on record even while off the road. Tyler and Perry released a five-song EP with Yungblud called "One More Time" in November 2025, which press.evvntly says hit No. 9 on the Billboard 200. The lead single, "My Only Angel," came out that September — the band's first new material in 13 years. In March 2026, Aerosmith put out a remastered "Legendary Edition" of its 1973 debut album, including a live set from Boston's Paul's Mall.

The Hollywood Bowl shows would mark Aerosmith's first full concerts since the September 2023 injury. The New York Post reports a lineup of special guests is still being finalized, with "several rock greats, past and present," in talks to join Tyler. None of those names have been confirmed publicly. The official reveal, including setlist, guest list, ticket pricing, and confirmation of which band members will actually be on stage, is scheduled for 10 a.m. ET today.
